Hoh Rainforest Bridals in Olympic National Park.
These photos were completely unplanned.
Eric and I were exploring Olympic National park after photographing an elopement in Seattle, and the Hoh Rainforest was definitely on our list. We didn’t have any sessions or weddings planned, but we decided to spend some time exploring together instead. We were exploring this STUNNING rainforest when we spotted a bride and groom ahead of us! I looked around for a photographer, because being a wedding photographer myself, my eyes are basically programmed to spot wedding couples in gorgeous locations, but there was no photographer in sight.
Eric leaned over to me and said “Babe, are you seeing what I’m seeing?” and I replied, “What if they’re meeting a photographer somewhere! We can’t.” Then he pointed out their tripod. We nonchalantly followed them (in an effort to be as non-creepy as possible, kept stopping to snap photos of the scenery along the way), until we saw them set up their tripod and quickly run to get in position for the self-timer. I thought to myself “Okay.. let’s do this.” Except I wasn’t brave enough, so Eric confidently approached them. They spoke very little English, but Eric explained to them as best as he could that we were wedding photographers from the US and would love to take a few photos of them! After a few minutes of chatting back and forth with lots of descriptive hand gestures, they understood what we were asking. And although they were timid, telling them we’d happily send them a few images when got home had them in agreement.
We only shot for a few minutes because the language barrier was real and we wanted to respect their time, but I’m still so thankful we had a chance to shoot in the beautiful Hoh Rainforest!
