Before we get to the details
LET'S PAUSE FOR A MOMENT

Let’s pause, just for a moment. This is an incredible time in your lives! You’ve found your person and are starting the rest of your lives together soon. With all the excitement in the air also comes a sense of rush and busyness. But pause with me. Breathe this moment in. Revel in it. This surreal, beautiful moment. Take one more second to celebrate this special time in your lives, then grab a glass of wine, and let’s dive in!

It’s truly an honor you’re considering me to capture your wedding day! To let me into your space and be vulnerable sharing your life with me. That isn’t always an easy thing. And I want you to know I don’t take that honor lightly.

You’ll often hear me say that relationships are the heart and soul of my business. The images you see all started with a connection. Friendships that led to a sense of comfortability and resulted in beautiful images.

But delivering beautiful images isn’t enough for me. I desire to deliver stunning images of your celebration but more than that, I also want to give you an incredible experience. When you look back at your images, my goal is for you to remember how much fun you had spending time with your spouse that day, not how stressful the day was. Which is why I do everything in my power to provide that experience for you.

I truly believe that as humans, we mirror each other’s energy. One of the biggest compliments I’ve received from both couples and planners is the sense of calm I bring to the day. After witnessing countless weddings, I know things don’t always go according to plan, but I ALWAYS bring the focus back to the meaning of the day, which is celebrating your connection and commitment.

Another incredible compliment I often receive is how comfortable and unposed my images are. This is because I take a very hands off approach to the wedding day. Rather than manipulating and manufacturing moments, I document them as they naturally occur. I’ll usually be up close in the action but I also remain respectful of emotion that happens throughout the day.

01. GET IN TOUCH

If you feel a connection to me and my images, send me a message on my contact form and don't forget to include all the details of your day! From there, we'll set up a time to chat more about your day.

02. CONSULT

I like to find a time to connect with all my couples on the phone before booking. Because relationships are a big part of my business, I absolutely love this opportunity to get to know you better!

Rather than a sales call, I view this call as an opportunity to hear about you, your wedding plans, and who you are as a couple. I also view our time together as an opportunity for you to learn about me, my style, the process as well as investment options.

03. BOOKING

You'll hear me say that my goal is to make your engagement process as easy as possible so you're free to ENJOY it! This includes booking me for your wedding. If we both feel there's a great fit after our chat, I'll create a collection proposal for you and send it for you to review via email. You'll have a chance to review the proposal, take a look at the contract as well as make your payment with a credit card or bank transfer (if you prefer to mail a check, that's an option as well).

04. ENGAGEMENT SESSION

If you've chosen to add on an engagement session to your collection, now is when we'll get you scheduled! Engagement sessions are a great chance for us to get to know each other better and get you guys used to being in front of the camera (not to mention, they're pretty fun). Even if you've already had an engagement session with someone else, you'll have the opportunity to get to know me better and get used to my unique shooting style so we can roll right through portraits on your wedding day! I recommend scheduling your session right away as my calendar fills up very quickly!

05. WEDDING PREP

As your wedding advocate, I'll be in touch if you need anything, but a couple months before your date, I'll reach out to gather a little more information from you through a questionnaire in your client portal. Once you have a better idea of ceremony and reception start times and a few other details, we'll work together to create a timeline based on beautiful light for your photos as well as a seamless flow for your wedding day schedule. From there, we can set up a call for a couple weeks prior to your day, or if you feel comfortable, we'll see you there!

06. WEDDING DAY

On your wedding day, I'll meet you at the designated getting ready location and start gathering detail shots. I do all location scouting before coverage begins so no need to stress about locations. At the end of the night, I'll ask if you guys would like me to stay and add on an extra hour for more coverage before I head out!

07. THE WEEK AFTER

Within a week of your wedding, I'll send you at least 3 sneak peeks that you can share with family and friends or on social media. I know that waiting on your wedding images is stressful so I like to send a few images to tide you over before your gallery is ready! If my schedule allows, I'll also blog your wedding on my website.

08. DELIVERY

What you've been waiting for! Your images will be beautifully packaged online for you to view your images for the first time. If you've chosen a proof box, you'll also receive it around this time. You'll also have the option to invest in a legacy wedding album or receive a design proof if you've chosen to add on an album.

What is your shooting background?

I went to college for public relations at Illinois State University and worked in agency communications as well as corporate communications for several years before starting my photography business. I bought a DSLR on a whim before a camping trip in Colorado. I fell in love with photographing beautiful landscapes and that initial inspiration still is apparent in my wedding work. I was asked to photograph a friend's wedding shortly after and things started very quickly from there!

What gear do you use?

I shoot with professional Nikon DSLRs (D750s) as well as professional Nikon lenses. My primary film camera is a Contax 645 with a Zeiss 80mm lens and a Nikon F100. I also often shoot on old point and shoot film cameras. I bring backup gear to every wedding and portrait session.

I noticed above you said you take a documentary style approach. Do you still take family and bridal party portraits?

While my primary approach to the day is documentary, I also know how important family and bridal party portraits are. I absolutely offer posed family and bridal party photos in every wedding collection.

We're very awkward in front of the camera. I'm worried this will affect the images!

With exception to a slim few, the majority of people are extremely camera shy! And I understand! I'm uncomfortable in front of the camera myself (odd, I know, just keep me behind the camera!). One of the reasons why I take such a relaxed approach when it comes to posing and directing is so you feel comfortable! Rather than specific poses (like put your hand here and look this way), I'll give you cues (like snuggle up together or walk towards me). That way, you have some direction but your focus remains on your connection, rather than, "are we doing this right?" I also play music during my sessions and you're free to bring whatever liquid courage to help ease the nerves!

How would you describe your style?

My style is heavily influenced by the overall feel of the day. I photograph a variety of different weddings from intimate elopements in the desert to large, elegant affairs. I aim to capture the mood of whatever kind of celebration you envision for your day. Whether that be a moody forest wedding or a bright morning garden wedding. Every wedding is different and I don't limit myself to a specific style for each wedding, but rather capture the feel of the day and highlight the emotion in my editing. This allows me to deliver timeless wedding images no matter your wedding style.

How much are your wedding collections?

Every wedding and couple is different which is why I like to allow for flexibility in my collections! My collections start with base coverage of 6 hours and you're free to add on additional hours, another photographer, and other add ons from there! If you're planning something a little different, I also offer custom quotes with careful consideration based on your specific needs and priorities! Starting prices are available in the link below.

How do we book you?

Relationships are the heart and soul of my business. More than delivering beautiful wedding photographs, I want you to have an incredible experience and that only happens when we have a chance to get to know each other better! If things are clicking with us both, I'll send you a proposal. In order to reserve your date, I'll need a signed agreement and 50% retainer payment. The remaining 50% is due one month before your wedding (three months for international commissions). For portrait sessions, a 50% retainer payment is required to reserve your session date and the remaining balance is due one week prior to your session.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! A 50% retainer is required to reserve your date, however, we can build out a payment plan for the remaining 50%. Some couples prefer to go month-to-month, others prefer every few. We can customize it to what works best for you! I also have automated payment plans available.

How far in advance do we need to book you?

Weekends during popular wedding months fill up very quickly. As soon as you have a date and venue booked, I recommend contacting me! I've also had many couples inquire about my availability prior to booking their venue to ensure I was open for their date. Feel free to contact me about my open dates prior to booking a venue!

Can we meet you before we book or before the wedding?

I am more than happy to set up a time to meet/chat with you via FaceTime or Skype! While I'd love to be able to meet face-to-face with all my clients, my busy schedule simply doesn't allow for it and I reserve nights and weekends (when I'm not working) to spend time with family + friends and rest. However, I meet with couples all the time via FaceTime so if you'd like to set something up, just ask!

When can we expect image delivery?

Portrait sessions are typically between 4-6 weeks and elopements and weddings 8-12. My aim is to deliver galleries as soon as possible without compromising quality!

Will we be able to download our images?

Yes! Every portrait and wedding collection comes with access to a personalized online gallery where you can view and download all your images. You will have reprint rights to all delivered images meaning you are free to download and print wherever you choose.

Do you offer prints or albums?

Absolutely! I wholeheartedly believe in the power of print. You will have options within your gallery to purchase prints. Albums are a huge piece of your wedding experience and are offered as an add on to any wedding collection. We can also set up a consultation after your wedding or session to chat more about framed print and album options. I've had some couples who are not clients ask about purchasing albums through me, and I don't blame them! They're stunning! But I reserve albums as an exclusive option only for my clients.

How many images can we expect?

I don't guarantee a number of images for portrait or wedding collections simple because there's so many variables due to light, location, coverage, and events. Typically you can expect at least 40 images for portrait sessions and 350 for full wedding collections.

Do you edit our images?

Of course! Every image will be fully edited by myself in the style you see on my website and sent to you as a finished jpeg image. For film images, I use a professional developing + processing lab. Final images will vary depending on film stock but will be similar to the images you see on my website!

Do you blog every wedding?

While I wish I could blog every wedding and session I photograph, I simply don't have the time! I pour so much time into creating an incredible experience for my couples and while that's my main priority, I try to blog new weddings as much as I can, depending on the season.

We've seen your photos online and we love your work. But for celebrities or those with privacy concerns, is there a way we can opt out of you posting our images online?

I'm so glad the images you've seen online have resonated with you! While having images online is the primary way I secure new work, I often work with high profile clients and understand privacy concerns. For this reason, I offer a $5,000 loss of revenue add on to your wedding or elopement to keep your images completely offline for your privacy. If this is a service you need, please let me know when initially contacting me.

Do you travel for weddings?

I love to travel! The majority of my weddings are destination and exploring new locations feeds my creative soul. There's no location too remote. I can't wait to adventure with you!

Do we need to book your travel?

I offer custom collections with all travel included. This means I book all my own travel and you don't have to worry about a thing! Making this process as easy as possible for you is my goal.

Do you only travel for weddings in beautiful locations?

I believe there's beauty in every location no matter the venue or city. I also wholeheartedly believe that weddings are about the people first and foremost. Whether you're saying I Do in a chateau in France or a small park in Central Illinois, I am ALL IN.

What are your travel costs?

Travel is included in my custom collections. Get in touch and let me know what your vision is for your celebration and I'll make things easy for you by providing collection options with everything included.

What services do you offer?

I primarily offer portrait, elopement, wedding, maternity and boudoir photography. Branding/photos for small businesses are also available.

Do you photograph families?

While my primary focus is on couples, I sometimes take on family lifestyle commissions, depending on my availability.

What is a family lifestyle session?

A lifestyle session is focused on moments, rather than poses. It celebrates the natural connection between the humans you love rather than forcing emotion. This means I don't make everyone look at the camera and smile, but rather capture you as you are. Playing with your children and sharing snuggles on the floor. All the REAL stuff that makes your family your family. When you and those you love are free to be yourselves, that's when true emotion and beautiful moments are captured.

What about newborn sessions?

Depending on availability, I also take on newborn lifestyle commissions if my schedule allows, with priority for past clients.

Do you offer mentoring?

I do! Send me an email and we'll be in touch.

Can you help us with a timeline?

Absolutely!! Consider me your guide throughout your engagement. I have your best interest 100% at heart and I want your photos to come out incredibly. We'll work together to create a timeline that makes the most out of the time we have together and beautiful light for your photos.
